  MAIN ACTION BUTTONS

These are the main red action buttons:

Just click the desired button. Then the mouse pointer will change to show you that you must click a target character for that action (i.e. fight with...). The clicked button could also unfold a submenu.

Once you click a target character, if you're too far from him / her, you'll go there, walking, to perform that action.  Doble click the target character to go there running.

CHAT SUBMENU. A submenu will unfold for this action.

  1. CONTACT LIST: Access your contact list, where you can set a fixed chat channel (default chat channel is /zone), apply chat filters and manage your contact list (friend, enemies...) and watch if they are connected. To learn more, see "The Chat system and Contact list".

  2. Begin a PRIVATE CHAT with another player in the same zone. This action is for two players only and will perform on an exclusive window. Both players enter the chat automatically, unless one of the players is ignoring the other using the /ignore command (See Addendum: Commands).

  3. Begin a MULTIPLE CHAT with another player in the same zone. It's the same as the private chat, but other players can JOIN this action, adding themselves to the exclusive chat window that will open.

  4. Since these CHAT actions are an exclusive window within the game, we can use the TABULATOR key to change the input cursor focus between this window and the Global Chat Window.

TRADE ACTIONS. A submenu will be unfolded:
  1. Begin a ITEM EXCHANGE with another player in the same zone. Both players will enter the "exchange screen", for those two players only. Here you can exchange any object, including money, or give something for nothing. That's up to you.

Once each player is ok, both players must accept the transaction by clicking on the "checked" green button. This button will remain highlighted until the other player clicks it so.

It's not possible to exchange "NO GIVE" items. To learn more about this special item attributes, see "Your inventory and your locker".

  2. Begin a RAFFLE, starting with another player in the same zone. The "raffle screen" is like the "exchange screen", but a Raffle can be joined by an unlimited number of additional players.

In this screen, all involved players can leave any item or money to be raffled. Once every player accepts the raffle, a dice will roll. The winner is announced and receives all the items left by the players.

Every player will have to accept again the raffle if, while accepting, some dickhead leaves another item to be raffled. So, like in real life, you must deal with the "oh-I-forgot-to-leave-this-prize-for-you-all-in-the-basket" type of people. We're sorry.

FIGHT
  • Once the button is clicked, you can choose your target by clicking him / her using the left mouse button. The target must be a player or NPC that is not doing any other action. If the target is too far, you'll go walking. Double click to go running. Once your character arrives, if you're near enough, the "fight screen" will open and the combat started.

If it's an already started fight, you'll see who's fighting putting your mouse over them. To Join the Party, just click your right mouse button. Last step to join is selecting which players side you want to go (red or blue).

The "fight screen" works slightly different that the main game screen. To learn more, see  "The fight screen".

STEAL
  • Once clicked, you can choose your target as usual.

You can only steal NPC (Non-Player Characters). Nobody should find enjoyable that other player stole you a hard-earned item.

To be able to steal, the NPC must be stopped...  You must wait the "steal bar" to fill up to see if it's succesful. You can fail, get success (stealing something) or being caught!

If the NPC moves, the action will be cancelled. If the NPC is much higher in level than the player, the stealing will always fail. The stealing can be cancelled by pressing ESC key during the stealing process.

Beware: if a NPC guard catches you while stealing, it will start a fight (and will start hitting!) to teach you a lesson.

EXAMINE / SNOOP
The mouse pointer will change to a magnifying glass to click over the target. If it's a NPC, we'll get orientative information about his / her level and offence. The same information is obtained if it's a human player, among his / her gang. Obviously, NPC guards have no offence, but they have learnt the same skills that most offences. Examining NPCs will also give us a hint about his behaviour regarding hostility (i.e. is this dumb-ass going to help his buddy if I attack him?)

When examining NPCs or players, you'll get these orientative messages regarding his / her level and behaviour.

Regarding your level and his / her level:

You are more than 6 levels higher: It looks like you could win a combat with him blindfolded, but it wouldn't be fair.
He/She is more than 6 level higher than you!: Fight? You want to die young, don't you?
Even level: That would be the closest thing to a fair fight.
You're 1 or 2 levels higher: It looks like you'd win in a fight, but you never know...
You're up to 5 levels higher: If you fight without letting down your guard, the fight's yours.
You're up to 3 levels higher: Be careful in a fight, although there are always options for winning.
He/She is 4 or 5 levels higher than you!: If you fight, you'll no doubt end up on the floor with a broken bone.

Regarding the NPC behaviour:

Prisonsers: It's not agressive, but will help buddies if you attack them: ...is looking around mistrustfully.
Guards: It's not agressive, but will crush you if you attack other guards: ...is watching the area mistrustfully.
Prisonsers & Guards: Will crush you if you're hunted: ...readies his weapon, desiring to attack you.
Prisoners: It's just a poor soul, nor agressive nor willing to help anybody. ...is looking at you indifferently.

Only thieves can snoop using the Examine button. To use this thief-only skill you must EXAMINE a NPC being close to it. It's an art which allows a secret search over Non Player Characters to find out what kind of loot they carry on, which can be obtained after defeating them in a combat. Learn more about all other offence skills in the Addendum: Skills.

GANG ACTIONS. A submenu gets unfolded once clicked, allowing you to:
  • See the GANG INFORMATION SCREEN, if we belong to one. You'll see the gang members among their gang rank and connection status. You can also see all other gangs among the alliance status, the gang fee to become member and the gang uniform, if your leader has set one. Only the gang leader (or a member with enough rank) can make changes in this screen. Members can view all the info available.

To learn more about this screen, see the manual section: The Prison Gangs.

  • RECRUIT a player to become a gang member. Once this action is selected, you must select the target player. Only the gang leader (or a member with enough rank) can recruit players.

  • FOLLOW a gang fellow or a group member (See Addendum: Grouping).

When following someone, our character will automatically follow this player walking or running (watch your weight...). If the target player crosses doors, you'll also cross that door. To stop following someone, your walk or run manually using your mouse left button.

  EXTENDED INVENTORY

This button will unfold a dedicated inventory window (bigger than the character profile's one). It's very useful to search for items as you can filter them by type. You can also order them by pressing the CONTROL key to grab an item or a group of items and dropping them on another position in the list. This is convenient to have those items ready to use in a fight, an exchange or some other action. (Learn more about in the Addendum: Extended Inventory).

  MAP

  CONSOLE
  • The chat console will be unfolded. This console is useful to keep track of chat channels and /tell messages, or private messages. (See Addendum: The Chat Console)

  OPTIONS
  • You can select "Window mode" to play the game from a 640x480 window that you can resize as you wish. Once selected, you'll need to re-run the program (quit and execute again) to start in window mode.

  • The options screen allows you to set on/off the Sound Effects, the Environment sounds (ambient) and the built-in CD-Player if you want to play a CD.

  • The default options for other graphic settings are usually just ok, but they are there so you can adjust some options for performance purposes in really old computers.
